Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden, is set to host the exciting mid-week matchup between Sweden and Latvia on Tuesday in the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships. The 10 teams participating in the tournament have been divided into two groups of five in the preliminary round of the competition. After a single round-robin series in each group, the top four teams from each group advance to the playoff round while the fifth-placed team in each group moves to the relegation round. The top four placed teams from the preliminary round will play a cross-over quarterfinal game: 1A vs. 4B, 1B vs. 4A, 2A vs. 3B and 2B vs. 3A. If qualified, Sweden, the host country, will be playing the late quarter-final at Scandinavium. Group A consists of Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Latvia. Group B, meanwhile, has Czechia, the United States, Slovakia, Switzerland and Norway.

In the semifinals the best-ranked team will play against the lowest-ranked semi-finalist. The second-best ranked semi-finalist will play the third-best ranked semi-finalist. Sweden will be playing the first semifinal if they advance that far in the competition, with the time slots being officially determined after the quarterfinals.
